The Family in the Jesus’s Movement
The purpose of this study is to find out whether there is continuity between the Jesus movement before his death and the movement of his disciples after his resurrection concerning their attitude towards the family. The “anti-familial” sayings of Jesus are studied, together with other gospel traditions which reveal a positive attitude towards the family. By placing these sayings in the framework of the peasant mass movement launched by Jesus, it will be possible to be more precise about the task of the disciples within that movement. This research will reveal the importance of this group and of the households which received their preaching in order to explain the continuity between the pre-Easter and the post-Easter periods of the Jesus movement in their attitude towards the family.
